James Eddy is a sculptor, painter and site-specific artist based in West Cornwall. Born in Truro in 1975, he has been following a broad and varied artistic journey since graduating from an Environmental Science degree in 1999. He has exhibited widely and delivered commissions both nationally and internationally. In 2010 he undertook a year's residency at the Lost Gardens of Heligan which culminated in the creation of the Growth & decay charcoal sculpture. The sculpture is a living and decaying piece, a part of nature, gradually changing with its surroundings. In 2015 James was invited to create sculptures for the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden, in Chiang Mai, Thailand. That same summer he was selected to represent Cornwall at the Lorient Inter Celtic festival. In recent years he has exhibited regularly at the Penwith Society of Arts in St. Ives and at several Affordable Art Fair’s in Battersea. James created a sculpture installation for the Fresh Air sculpture biennale in 2017 for which he was awarded a Quenington Sculpture Trust Bursary. In 2019 he was selected to exhibit in the Art in the Garden sculpture exhibition at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in Hampshire. He was also once again selected as an exhibitor at the Breeze Art Fair in Penzance. In the summer of 2020 James will again represent Cornwall creating a sculpture for the Lorient Inter Celtic festival.
