Roger Griffiths RBSA
Tower Hill terrace, near Rainow, Cheshire, acrylic on canvas, 80 x 90cm

Roger is a self-taught landscape artist using watercolours and acrylic-based mixed media. He studied geography and geology, then landscape architecture and practised as a landscape architect until retirement. He is a full elected member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and his paintings have been chosen several times for the national exhibition of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours at the Mall Galleries. In 2015 he appeared on Sky TV’s Landscape Artist of the Year programme painting at Trelissick in Cornwall and he has won awards regularly at various exhibitions over the years. Roger aims to express the underlying patterns in the landscape and uses acrylic mixed media combined with geological, Ordnance Survey and satellite maps. Areas of transition between lowland and upland, wild and cultivated, and land and sea are of particular interest. Typical subjects include his local area of Northamptonshire, but also extend to other parts of England.
