Oxfordshire artist Marjorie Collins, member of the Society of Women Artists, Society of Botanical Artists and Oxford Art Society, was born in Chicago and moved to England in 1975.  She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Design from the University of Michigan. Currently she mainly paints contemporary still lifes and florals in watercolours as well as urban subjects in both acrylic on canvas and watercolour. Her paintings are inspired by bright colours and the bold shadow shapes produced by lighting the subjects with a strong light source. She has exhibited her work widely in galleries in solo as well as group shows both in the US and the UK, and open exhibitions include The Royal Academy Summer Show, The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, and the Royal Watercolour Society. Her paintings can be found in a number of corporate, private and public collections in both the UK and US, and images of her paintings have appeared in a number of magazines and books, and also in the Public Catalogue Foundation collection.
