Jill Hillman
Belilah loved to dance in the rain. Gouache. 25cms sq.

During her MA at The University of the West of England, Jill studied and painted many Wiltshire landscapes across the region eventually making a study of Biss Meadows in Trowbridge. "I have also made many timed book works of journeys across the region such as Trowbridge to Waterloo, which have been exhibited in the Swindon and History Centre in Chippenham," says Jill. She has always created a series of work which explores a theme and for the last two years she has been working on a series of illustrated limericks which were derived from random line drawings. "I shall continue to explore this response for the time being as I investigate the automatic drawing element and my perception of it," she says. Like Edward Lear, landscape and nonsense sit happily together in Jill's life.
