Jools Woodhouse
‘Where Dorset Meets Devon, acrylic and pencil on board, 50 x 50cm

Having studied Graphic Design at Salisbury College of Art, Jools travelled the world, painting 3D items as she went. Her work is a celebration of all that is coastal. Jools mostly uses acrylic paint and coloured pencil on plywood board and works through layers of wet paint by scratching to reveal new colours beneath. The seasons influence her palette but spring is when she produces her most vibrant work. The ‘Harbour Series’ is lead by a side of Jools that takes pleasure from illustrative, characterful scenes of life in a coastal town with all the colours and activity of an imagined world of old cottages, quays and the coming and going of boats. The ‘Coastal Landscape Series’ comes from immersing herself in the seasons and their effects upon the countryside - stormy skies beside vibrant lime green fields, sweeping hills with glimpses of the ever changing sea with patterns and colours of the nearby fields in transition. Nature never stands still. Her palette acts as a link between the two styles which satisfy a need to capture what is around her. Jools' work is regularly exhibited and is in private collections in Australia, America and the UK.
