Detail of Blorenge, The Sugar loaf and Skirrid Fawr II, 40 x 60cm

Frances has been making etchings for half a century and still loves the medium, which offers so much to the artist and the collector. "The complexities of acid, varnish, aquatint on the copper help me to resolve the images I am after, and I enjoy the contrast of a moment of vision with the hours entailed to bring it to fruition," she says. "To say nothing about the complexities of printing. Original prints offer so much to the public, as they are affordable genuine art, as made in editions, but should in no way be confused with machine made reproductions." Frances prints all her own work in her studio in Herefordshire.
