Liz Wright
Hallelujah Bay, oil on canvas, 24 x 24 inches

Liz's detailed paintings are both fantasy and acutely observed reality. "I choose to paint scenes that are familiar to me; part of everyday life and inspiration from travelling," she says. "Although at first glance the realism of a scene makes an impact, look further and they suffuse with a quality of 'hyper-reality'. Liz gained a pre-diploma (foundation) at St Martins School of Art and went on to graduate with a degree in Fine Art from the West of England College of Art, Bristol studying with David Inshaw and Alfred Stockham. She has had many one person and mixed exhibitions and since 1998 she has lived in Dorset, which is the inspiration of her work. "Recently I have been painting inland, dancing trees near Stourhead, Somerset/Wiltshire. I have also been experimenting with watercolours." Most of what Liz has ever painted is in The Bridgeman Art Library in London, Paris, Berlin and New York which licenses her secondary rights for usage.
