Andrea Bates (née Bartók) was born in Budapest, Hungary. She was educated in Paris and Montreal and later studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Andrea now lives with her husband, David, in North Oxfordshire, where she has her own studio and gallery. As a member of the Oxford Art Society, Fosseway Artists, and several other groups, Andrea has had over 35 one-woman shows to date. She has had work exhibited by the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and by the Pastel Society in the Mall Galleries in London. Andrea has exhibited in both London and regional galleries, and has been a regular participant in Oxford Art Week since 1985. Andrea holds an annual exhibition of her latest work in May of each year, in her converted barn gallery at Hillside, Enstone, in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds. Her work can also be found in private collections in the UK, North America, Switzerland, France and Germany and has been featured in publications in the UK and internationally. Andrea has made available a range of limited edition high quality prints, depicting mainly gardens, flowers and landscapes.
