Shadow Lines, giclée print, 30 x 30 cm, edition of 50

A practising artist for over 40 years, Liz works with the photographic image, digital manipulation and a variety of mixed media. She initially studied Graphic Design before completing her first degree in Fine Art at Newcastle upon Tyne. Liz later completed her MA Fine Art at Norwich School of Art & Design. Her experience and skill as both designer and artist has informed her long career as lecturer, consultant and advisor in art and design education across the UK. Liz is now based in Lincolnshire where she has her main studio. She travels extensively with her camera, her sketching materials and paint box, often working from her second home in rural France. Liz visually explores concepts around ‘a sense of place and presence’ using traditional techniques, a range of materials and processes including digital technologies. She initially captures ‘moments’ in-camera, mainly from landscapes or just ‘special places’ she discovers. The photograph may be the final piece in itself. It will often provide the structure for the final collaged artwork, however the final piece is never pre-planned. The concept or idea leads the making and how the image evolves. Drawing, painting and mono printing then precede further digital experimentation. Layering, fragmenting, changing scale and positioning of separate elements then lead to completion of the final digital collage and print. Liz produces most of her works as limited edition gicleé prints. Many are hand embellished. These prints are museum quality, printed on acid free watercolour paper using archival inks. Liz currently promotes her work through exhibition, her own website and other online sites including artfinder.com. A selection of her artwork is printed onto fabric for clothing. These are available through shopvida.com. Her photographic prints are available through EyeEm.
