Patricia's work is Inspired by the ambience of place; at home or abroad – meandering along country lanes or round towns. "I am fascinated by the ever- changing characteristics of light – how it dissolves or sharpens detail and alters any colour it touches, evoking mood and atmosphere. Back in my studio I explore the resonance of those moments using colour to convey my emotional response. I am also revisiting sporting themes – the shapes and colours created by cyclists speeding through the countryside is particularly exciting. Whatever, the subject, I am always experimenting with materials - with oils, watercolours and pastel, pen and wash, collage, and hand-made printing.” Patricia studied Fine Art at the University of Central Lancashire, graduating with honours in 1980. Her work has recently been bought by The Duchy of Lancaster and is held in the Parliamentary Art Collection in the House of Lords, London, in the head office of Cadbury and in private collections worldwide. She is based in the Northwest of England and her work is exhibited in galleries across the UK including the Mall Galleries, London, The Colours and Leith Galleries, Edinburgh and the RBSA Gallery, Birmingham. She held a major solo show in 2016 in the Severn Gallery in Brantwood, Cumbria, the former home of John Ruskin and again in 2019, part of the 200th anniversary celebrations of John Ruskin’s birth. Her solo show ‘Britain’s favourite Walks – Top 10’ in June 2021 at the Northern Lights Gallery in Keswick was a great success. A selection of Patricia’s original paintings is published into limited edition giclée prints and greeting cards.
